Building code consulting and especially Certified Professional (CP) services demand principled analysis that balances the building code with other project requirements. This is a rewarding branch of architecture that will allow you to work independently on a range of building types and contribute in a meaningful way at key points in the design process.
We have developed a reputation for being a responsive and accountable consultant who understands more than just the building code. Our clients, consultants, and the authorities we work with expect us to provide guidance on the principles of the code, propose project specific interpretations, and facilitate building and occupancy permits through the CP stream. Our projects range in scale from multi-phased master planned developments to helping with a friend’s home renovation project that is stuck in review at the city. However, at the core of our practice is complex projects with strong design teams where we can best leverage our expertise. We have the privilege of collaborating with some of the most innovative architects in BC on prominent buildings where the expertise of a senior architect can be applied.
Senior Architect
We are currently looking for an architect with a strong drive to work on challenging projects focused primarily in Vancouver. Building code consulting and CP services are a specialization within the field of architecture and engineering and we are well compensated for providing a high level of technical expertise. Salaries are commensurately higher with a bonus structure and support for ongoing professional learning and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert guidance on building code compliance and regulations throughout all project phases.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards.
Conduct detailed code reviews and prepare compliance reports.
Stay up-to-date on provincial and municipal building codes, with a focus on British Columbia regulations.
Offer innovative solutions to resolve complex code-related challenges.
Qualifications
Professional experience as an architect or significant exposure to architectural projects.
Certified Professional designation would be an asset; however, we are willing to work with the successful candidate to achieve this designation and develop this level of expertise.
Strong understanding of building codes and standards in British Columbia.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Commitment to maintaining high professional standards.
Must be registered with the AIBC, or eligible to be registered in the province of British Columbia.
Hands-on experience with complex projects in British Columbia.
